Our Church History
In 1848, Reverend J.F. New began the teachings of Methodism in Montezuma. Sermons began in a cabin owned by Mr. Wilson and the moved into his newly constructed home in his storefront that same year. Later, church meetings were held in the county courthouse until land was purchased and the first official church building was built and dedicated in 1854. A second church building was erected and dedicated in 1904, but sadly the church burned down in 1939. After the fire, the church was rebuilt to what we see today at the corner of South 4th and East Liberty in Montezuma.
